Many people who are considering moving to Florida ask about the dangers of hurricanes. Besides our world class beaches on Anna Maria, Longboat Key, Siesta Key, lovely golf course communities, beach front homes and waterfront living hurricanes are a consideration to living here. You can buy a home that's not in a flood zone and still be close to the beach. You can buy a new elevated home with hurricane shutters. Flood insurance is always recommended. Stocking up your home with plenty of water, food and in our case diapers for our grandson. Many of my customers and friends own a home up north or in another country. Many of them aren't here much during hurricane season. So they close the shutters and leave town and hope for the best.
